The speedway of the south Set including 36 Disney Cars Diecast cars was released by Mattel on 2008 . The set was limited to 1000 pieces and though the sets were not numbered it seems that the numbers don't lie. The set was available at only $299 hen it was first released but today the number of available sets for sale are numbered and their price can reach over $3000 on ebay and other auction based sites. The piston Cup race cars set comes in one giant window box displaying all the cars that participated in the controversial opening race in the Disney Cars Movie.
The Speedway Of The South Set was first (for 24 hours only!!!) available to members of the Hot Wheel Red Line Club , that provide several benefits and priority to Die Cast cars collectors and members of the club. Since the release of the Disney-Pixar animated movie Cars in June of 2006 , the global retail sales of "Cars" merchandise have generated over 5 Billion Dollars.
