It was officially released on September 14, 2009, and it serves as the lead-off single to her third studio album, Play On, which was released in November via Arista Nashville. She performed “Cowboy Casanova” live on September 17, 2009 after her induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame at Muskogee Civic Center, and also at the Grand Ole Opry on October 2, 2009.
