Toys Story Short To Premiere With Cars 2

TOY STORY Characters “Not Going Away Forever”; Will Appear in a Short Attached to CARS 2 , World Grand Prix

Pixar has stated many times that this Friday’s Toy Story 3 will be the last film in the franchise, and serves as the final act in what has been a very lucrative and popular trilogy. But, as with anything that makes money in Hollywood, there have been murmurings about a proposed fourth film. In an article from MSN, director Lee Unkrich makes it clears that there are no solid plans for a Toy Story 4, but that Buzz and Woody aren’t going away forever. In fact, a number of the toys from Toy Story 3 will be back next summer in an all new, untitled short film that will premier before Cars 2: World Grand Prix when it opens on June 24th, 2011.

Here’s what Lee had to say:
“Well, I really tried my best to end the story of Andy and his toys and bring that story to a close in a really nice way at the end of this film. That being said, we know that people love the characters, love Woody and Buzz, and would hate to say good-bye to them completely. I don’t know that there would ever be a Toy Story 4. We don’t have any plans for one — but we are trying to find ways to keep the characters alive. We have announced we’re going to do a short film in front of Cars 2: World Grand Prix that uses the Toy Story characters. We’re going to keep them alive; they’re not going away forever.”

Problems with Cars 2 Storyline

John Lasseter Jumps To The Co-Director Seat Of Cars 2

With the recent news about changes in Cars 2 release date ,rumors that was rebutted a few days after by Disney officials – comes additional inside information that Pixar has been encountering some storyline issues on Cars 2 Plot.
According the BlueSky Disney , John Lasseter has been roaming the halls of Pixar Studio in Emryville once again in order to help Brad Lewis (Ratatouille’s Producer) meet the 2011 release date.

If you were to wonder the halls of the Hat Building right now you’d find something unusual. Something that hasn’t happened in a good while. I’d say almost a couple of years. Each week you could usually find John Lasseter walking the halls at least once, more likely twice a week as he hurried from meeting to meeting before he headed off to Glendale or some other meeting. But the last month or so he’s not been seen that much. And he won’t be for another month or so. See, he’s been stuck up in Emeryville working on “Cars 2″ so that it’s ready for release next year. There have been story problems that have developed late last year and into the new year that needed to be addressed. So as of now, John is riding the film as co-director. Now, will he be listed in the credits as that when the film comes out? Not yet determined if he’ll get his name up there with that label. We will see as time starts to move closer to the release date.

Nothing to panic , this is not the first time that a Pixar animated movie has encountered story issues and probably won’t be the last . Cars 2 is still a year and a half away which leaves enough time to solve the issues that the studio encounters. I for one would very much want to have Lasseter involved in this movie as much as possible and use his valuable talent to tighten any plot loose ends.

Cars 2 is still on Track – Release Date : June 24, 2011

In the last couple of days there were some rumors that the release Cars 2 was pushed six months to December 2011.During the Disney’s first quarter earnings call, Disney’s President and Chief Executive officer , Bob Iger , revealed that Cars 2 will be delayed from its planned June 24, 2011 release to December of that same year. This was the third change in the sequel’s release date.
Today , The studio tells us that Iger’s statement during the conference call was actually: “The second installment of Cars, another strong franchise for the company, will hit theaters in the summer of 2011.” In other words, the “Cars” sequel is still on track, no delays. In other other words – Disney Cars is still on track for release on time.

Disney has just released the first Conecpt Art Image from the Cars 2 Movie

Next year , June 24th 2011 to be exact, Pixar would be releasing the Cars Movie Sequel – Cars 2 , World Grand Prix. With more than 15 months ahead , Pixar has released the first concept art image from their storyboard giving us a glimpse of what’s in stored for us and what they’re already been doing for quite some time .

As revealed last year that Cars 2 will see Lightning McQueen, his pit team and pit boss Mater, heading around the world for the Race of Champions taking place in five different countries with champions from different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving. Apparently “Mater gets involved in a ‘Hitchcockian’ case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent called Finn McMissile (who looks a lot like an Aston Martin) and becomes embroiled in a huge spy thriller. Only no-one believes him. That too comes to a head at Buckingham Palace.” Former Pixar producer Brad Lewis is making his directorial debut on Cars 2.

In the next video , John Lasseter , Cars director and today’s chief creative officer at Pixar and Disney, is breaking out the story of how he came up with the idea for the new Cars movie . “the idea for this came to me as I was traveling around Europe doing publicity for the for movie ‘Cars.’ I kept finding myself thinking what would Mater do, driving on the opposite side of the road … and getting stuck in giant roundabouts in Paris … and in Italy with all the scooters … if I get the opportunity to do a sequel for ‘Cars’ I’d love to take them here to Europe”

Doc Hudson Character Would Not Appear In Cars 2

Based on an interview with Larry The Cable Guy , who’s been reprising the voice of the Southern-fried tow truck Tow Mater in Cars 2 since last summer, Doc Hudson’s Character would not be featured in the sequel.Voiced by non other than the late Paul Newman , the character of Doc Hudson was set to feature prominently in the sequel . However , Paul’s death from lung cancer in Sep 2008 has placed Pixar in an uneasy situation to find a voice replacement .

“It’s a shame he’s still not around,” says Larry The Cable Guy in the recent interview, “They were thinking about getting a voice to sound like him. But then they decided it would be disrespectful, and I agree. You can’t impersonate one of the greats.

“They’ll have some storyline to where he’s moved on or something, and maybe they’re going to do some kind of tribute or something at the end. I’d like to tell you more, but I’m sworn to secrecy.”Doc Hudson , known as the Faboulous Hudson Hornet & Doc is the Judge and Doctor of Radiator Springs . He is a legend on the racing tracks ,Holding the record for most wins in a single season and three in a row Piston Cup Championships in 1951 , 1952 & 1953.

Can you tell me anything about what you’re doing in “Cars 2?”

“My lips are sealed! All I can tell you is that we’re doing ‘Cars 2‘ and that movie is a blast. The people at Pixar are amazing- and I’m not just saying that because I’m in the movie. Before I started the first one they treated me unbelievable well. They’re a blast to work with. They told me we were doing a sequel and now we’ve already done about four scenes. I’m going back in December for two six-hour sessions so I think in 12 hours we can get about 15 more scenes out. It’s just a blast. It’s going to be good. I know that much.”

Do you go to Pixar to record?

“I do. If they had to, they would fly out to where you are but Pixar’s been good to me and I like going out there because I like meeting the people working on it. I feel more comfortable when I know everybody that’s working on it. Where they do their work is unbelievable, that campus. I will say this, it almost killed me because I like to get into character and the last time I filmed I put on over 1,700 pounds [Laughs].”

With the close release of Disney Cars toon shorts and the scheduled release of Cars 2 – the World Grand Prix in summer of 2011 , Disney-Pixar have been polishing the new characters and the release of new and exciting Disney Cars Toys.

All-new episodes of Disney Pixar’s “Cars Toons,” an animated short series directed by Academy Award-winner John Lasseter with Rob Gibbs co-directing and starring Lightning McQueen’s rusty friend Mater, will debut beginning FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20 on Disney Channel, Disney XD and ABC Family. They are titled “Unidentified Flying Mater,” “Monster Truck Mater,” “Heavy Metal Mater” and “Tokyo Mater.”

Mark Mothersbaugh (”Devo”) composed the music for three episodes and BT (”The Fast and the Furious”), a prominent composer of dance and electronic music, scored “Tokyo Mater.”

The four new stories follow the popular shorts that began debuting in October 2008 and which have reached 22.9 million Kids 2-11, or 56% of all kids in that age group in the U.S., and 67.5 million total unique viewers.

“Cars Toons” are directed by John Lasseter, (”Cars,” “Toy Story 2,” “A Bug’s Life” and “Toy Story”) and co-directed by Rob Gibbs (”Cars,” “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters, Inc” and “Toy Story 2?). Kori Rae (”The Incredibles” and “Monsters Inc.”) is the producer. Victor Navone (”Cars,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.”) co-directed the episode “Tokyo Mater.”

“Monster Truck Mater”
Mater is a professional wrestler who works his way up the ranks from amateur to World Champion Monster Truck Wrestler, wrestling all kinds of characters along the way. When faced with his biggest opponent yet, Mater tags in his “tag team partner,” Frightening McMean.

“Heavy Metal Mater”
Mater is a rock star in a heavy metal band. He starts out in a garage band and rises to the top with his hit song, “Dad Gum.” Lightning McQueen joins him on stage in the middle of a huge concert and they rock into history.

Disney Cars Toys – Cars 2 movie plot released

John Lasseter, revealed the Cars 2 Plot at a Disney presentation in London. The Movie , which is the sequel of the successful animated movie Cars (2006) is scheduled to be released in Summer of 2011 and would take up the role of Mater to the next level.
Mater , Voiced by Larry the Cable Guy , which mainly appeared as a comic relief in the first movie gets upgraded from a run down tow truck to Lightning McQueen’s new Pit Boss/”wanna be spy” in a non stop world-wide comedy-spy thriller.
McQueen , the popular Disney Cars Toys character , competes in the Race of Champions which takes place in five different locations starting at Tokyo (Mount Fuji) , Germany Black Forest , Porto Corso in Italy , a 24 hour race around Paris and ends in Buckingham Palace (London). During these races ,Mater gets involved in a case of Mistaken Identity and becomes involved in a Spy thriller against Finn McMissle and his agents and ends with a action adventure twist.
The inspiration for this plot came to the Disney Pixar Maestro during his travels to Europe while he was wondering what would happen if the characters would be placed on foreign soil. The new movie is directed by Ratatouille’s Director , Brad Lewis and would surely be one of next Summer’s big hits. Disney Cars Toys would continue to follow the story and release more info in the future….
