Cars 2 is still on Track – Release Date : June 24, 2011
Bob Iger - Disney President
In the last couple of days there were some rumors that the release Cars 2 was pushed six months to December 2011.During the Disney’s first quarter earnings call, Disney’s President and Chief Executive officer , Bob Iger , revealed that Cars 2 will be delayed from its planned June 24, 2011 release to December of that same year. This was the third change in the sequel’s release date. Today , The studio tells us that Iger’s statement during the conference call was actually: “The second installment of Cars, another strong franchise for the company, will hit theaters in the summer of 2011.” In other words, the “Cars” sequel is still on track, no delays. In other other words – Disney Cars is still on track for release on time.
Roll out with the Disney Cars GeoTrax Road Systems
GeoTrax™ are award-winning, plastic toy Cars ,trains and accessories made by Fisher-Price. They are rugged and well designed. Even a two-year-old can assemble the track, and it would hold up even when they decide to walk on it. There is a variety of accessories and extensions which makes completing a collection both fun and challenging.
The Disney-Pixar GeoTrax Cars Series features buildings and sites from the movie including Lightning McQueen’s Close Call , Flo’s V8 Cafe, Ramone’s Body Art, and the Sherrif’s Lookout Mountain. Three RC vehicles – Lightning McQueen, Mater and Doc Hudson – feature new motors that go two times faster. And there are three new track packs made from stylish, black roadway with accessories like Sally, Sarge, Trev (the train), the Traffic Signal, and the Route 66 sign. All in all, this is an impressive collection that you will want. The GeoTrax Cars Offer The Following Sets:
Geotrax Cars Set – Flos V8 Cafe
GeoTrax Flos V8 Cafe is the local hangout for the Pixar Cars characters for refueling and to relax with a few quarts of oil. Flo is ready and waiting for new customers to stop by. Her cafe is ready to refuel any car with pretend gas nozzles activated by the Child’s hand. Flos V8 cafe also features a cool roundabout that allows kids to change direction of their vehicles without leaving the Cafe. Choose from four different directions. Add onto Flos V8 Cafe to create the entire Radiator Springs world. And since this set is part of the GeoTrax world, it works with all other GeoTrax products. Kids can build a GeoTrax world as large as their imaginations.
GeoTrax Ramone’s Body Art is the perfect place for cars to “change up their look” at the famous paint shop from the Pixar Cars movie. Ramone, an articulated push vehicle, is ready and waiting for new customers to stop by. His shop is ready to customize any car with a pretend spray paint hose activated by the child’s hand. There’s even more magic happening at Ramone’s – because when little boys push on the top of Ramone, his front end pops up to reveal a “hydraulic” car effect. Simply push down again to “reset” Ramone to normal. The switch track attached to the front of Ramone’s lets cars drive into the service area, or continue on their path through Radiator Springs. And the connector tracks on each end of the set make it so easy to connect more track and playsets. Add onto Ramone’s to create the entire Radiator Springs world.
Kids can recreate the action and excitement of the Disney/Pixar Cars movie, with Sheriff chasing speeders down the ramp or hiding behind the billboard, waiting for Lightning McQueen! Press down on Sheriff to hear phrases from the movie! Grab your GeoTrax Sheriff’s Lookout Mountain, RCs, track packs and other play sets, and you can create Radiator Springs (Additional items sold separately and subject to availability.) Includes Sheriff vehicle, mountain site, billboard, two off ramps, four pieces of Snap-Lock™ track for ramp, and three button cell batteries.
GeoTrax Lightning McQueen’s Close Call springs this Radiator favorite zooms into the world of GeoTrax® (in forward or reverse) with an easy-to-use RC controller that activates cool sounds and phrases from the movie! Will Lightning McQueen race over the mountain and get to the crossing before Trev the Train does—and before the Sheriff catches him for speeding? It’s gonna be a close call! Includes 11 pieces of Snap-Lock Track™, a mountain site, 2 stanchions, 2 guard rails, 2 signs, 2 push vehicles (Trev the Train & Sheriff) and 1 RC vehicle (Lightning McQueen) and 3 button-cell batteries. Requires 6 AAA batteries (3 for RC controller and 3 for vehicle).
The Disney Pixar’s GeoTrax CARS Mega Set by Fisher-Price brings the world of Radiator Springs to life, just like in the Pixar CARS movie! With over 40 total pieces, including a turbo speed RC vehicle, character vehicles w/ SFX, sites & track.
The Disney Cars Launchers are yet another great addition to any Disney Cars Diecast Collection or to be collected separately . The launchers are made out of sturdy plastic and would fit most cars that are part of the Launcher series. Just place your favorite car in the dock , pull….release and your vehicle is on its way. The rubber bands are strong and should hold for continuous use , but if torn can be easily replaced by regular household rubber bands and it works the same. There are 2 lines of Launchers : Race-Off & Lightyear which comes with a racing wheel like Carrying Case.

Lego has signed a deal with Disney to license block toys for the next two blockbuster children’s movies – Toys Story 3 & Cars 2
In one of the most exciting License deals Lego has joined forces with Disney to bring the Disney world to life for millions of Lego fans. Beginning in 2010 we will see Lego and Lego Duplo sets for Toy Story, Cars and the new Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer film Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Mostly because Disney Cars would come out only in Duplo (Aimed for younger users) it looks like it’s time to say goodbye to Mega Bloks … which actualy did a great job a large number of sets and toys from the Mega Bloks Cars Series. Danish toy giant Lego is threatening to chip away at the very foundation upon which Canada’s Mega Brands was built a quarter century ago by setting its sights on the preschool construction category.
“We will become a much more significant share of that preschool market in the years to come,” Lego Americas president Soren Torp Laursen boldly predicted. In addition to regular blocks based on Disney licences, Lego will also adapt them to its Duplo line of larger blocks that cater to toddlers. All tie in with its traditional building blocks. Mega Brands has high hopes for its licences with Nickelodeon and Thomas the Tank, the world’s most popular boys preschool line in the world. In fact, Mega and Lego switched key licences this year with Mega picking up Thomas and shedding Disney.

Disney has just released the first Conecpt Art Image from the Cars 2 Movie
Next year , June 24th 2011 to be exact, Pixar would be releasing the Cars Movie Sequel – Cars 2 , World Grand Prix. With more than 15 months ahead , Pixar has released the first concept art image from their storyboard giving us a glimpse of what’s in stored for us and what they’re already been doing for quite some time .
The new colored concept art image, found on Disney’s Annual Shareholder report , shows McQueen racing in front of Mt Fuji in Japan
As revealed last year that Cars 2 will see Lightning McQueen, his pit team and pit boss Mater, heading around the world for the Race of Champions taking place in five different countries with champions from different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving. Apparently “Mater gets involved in a ‘Hitchcockian’ case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent called Finn McMissile (who looks a lot like an Aston Martin) and becomes embroiled in a huge spy thriller. Only no-one believes him. That too comes to a head at Buckingham Palace.” Former Pixar producer Brad Lewis is making his directorial debut on Cars 2.
In the next video , John Lasseter , Cars director and today’s chief creative officer at Pixar and Disney, is breaking out the story of how he came up with the idea for the new Cars movie . “the idea for this came to me as I was traveling around Europe doing publicity for the for movie ‘Cars.’ I kept finding myself thinking what would Mater do, driving on the opposite side of the road … and getting stuck in giant roundabouts in Paris … and in Italy with all the scooters … if I get the opportunity to do a sequel for ‘Cars’ I’d love to take them here to Europe”
Disney Cars Lenticular – what’s available and how’s it’s done
Disney’s Lenticular Cars
The Lenticular Series adds another level of personalty and fun to already amazing collection of Disney Diecast Cars . The new Disney Cars animated sensation continues with the Cars Character Cars Assortment featuring character vehicles with changing lenticular eyes that really bring the characters to life! These 1:55 scale die-cast cars are big on personality and detail. There are currently 2 releases of Disney Cars Lenticulars referred as Series 1 & 2 offering different and attractive designs.
Lenticular Printing
The Cars Character With Lenticular Eyes use the Lenticular Printing Technology. Lenticular printing is a technology in which a lenticular lens is used to produce images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. The lenticular printing include Disney Cars that showed flip and animation effects such as winking eyes, and modern airport advertising graphics that change their message depending on the viewing angle. This technology was created in the 1940s but has evolved in recent years to show more motion and increased depth. Originally used mostly in novelty items, lenticular prints are now being used as a marketing tool to show products in motion.
How does Lenticular Printing work?
Images are interlaced on the substrate. This process takes a batch of images and prints alternating strips of each image on the back of a transparent plastic sheet. The plastic sheet has a series of curved ridges. Each curved ridge is a lenticule. When light passes through the plastic sheet, it is reflected from smooth white paper under the plastic sheet. The end result is that a single eye or camera looking at the print sees a single whole image, but an eye or camera with a different angle of view will see a different image.
