Toys Story Short To Premiere With Cars 2

TOY STORY Characters “Not Going Away Forever”; Will Appear in a Short Attached to CARS 2 , World Grand Prix

Pixar has stated many times that this Friday’s Toy Story 3 will be the last film in the franchise, and serves as the final act in what has been a very lucrative and popular trilogy. But, as with anything that makes money in Hollywood, there have been murmurings about a proposed fourth film. In an article from MSN, director Lee Unkrich makes it clears that there are no solid plans for a Toy Story 4, but that Buzz and Woody aren’t going away forever. In fact, a number of the toys from Toy Story 3 will be back next summer in an all new, untitled short film that will premier before Cars 2: World Grand Prix when it opens on June 24th, 2011.

Here’s what Lee had to say:
“Well, I really tried my best to end the story of Andy and his toys and bring that story to a close in a really nice way at the end of this film. That being said, we know that people love the characters, love Woody and Buzz, and would hate to say good-bye to them completely. I don’t know that there would ever be a Toy Story 4. We don’t have any plans for one — but we are trying to find ways to keep the characters alive. We have announced we’re going to do a short film in front of Cars 2: World Grand Prix that uses the Toy Story characters. We’re going to keep them alive; they’re not going away forever.”

Disney Pixar Cars Carsland Update

New System Tests At Disney Pixar Carsland .

With smiles on their faces, er bumpers, test cars have begun racing around the track for Radiator Springs Racers, a major new attraction scheduled to open with the Cars Land addition to Disney’s California Adventure in 2012.
These cars resemble Lightning McQueen from the Disney/Pixar film Cars, complete with bright red color and glowing smile, but according to the official Disney Parks Blog, they are only part of “early ride system tests” and likely won’t be seen by most guests at the parks. However, the blog does admit that the sounds of revving engines from these cars may be heard in the park.
Radiator Springs Racers is based loosely off of the same ride system that is employed at Test Track in Epcot at Walt Disney World, though the Cars-based attraction should be much more thrilling when it pits two racing ride vehicles side-by-side for an exciting race to the finish.

More Disney Shorts Coming From Pixar’s New Studio In Vancouver

The new Pixar Studio in Vancouver would generate 3-5 minutes Disney Cars shorts starting August

Mater — the toothy rust-bucket tow truck from the hit animated film Cars — will be flying straight out of Vancouver’s new Pixar Canada studio to audiences around the world.
That was the scoop at the official opening of the new hip Pixar Studios in Vancouver last Tuesday.

At the exclusive event, attended by Premier Gordon Campbell and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, Pixar executives briefly drew a velvet veil off “top secret” sketches of a winged-Mater flying with his bucktoothed grin.
Pixar officials said Mater , the Disney Cars Short Icon , will star in the new studio’s first production, with film work starting in August.
Dylan Brown, Pixar Canada’s creative director, said putting popular “legacy” characters like Mater, or Toy

Story’s Buzz Lightyear, in funny new situations is the exclusive role of the new studio, a satellite of award-winning Hollywood animation studio Pixar.
Pixar Canada will create three-to-five-minute short films to be seen on cable, and possibly aired before feature films.
The studio also revealed a few of the Canadian content tricks up its sleeve, with clips of Pixar characters frolicking in iconic Vancouver locales.

Buzz Lightyear bravely probed through massive Stanley Park trees in one short scene, and trash robot WALL-E basked with his girlfriend EVE in an English Bay sunset.
Amir Nasrabadi, Pixar Canada’s general manager, said the studio scoured the globe for the perfect satellite office, and chose B.C. for tax incentive reasons, the Vancouver’s deep computer-generated animation talent pool and for time-zone compatibility with the famed Hollywood studio that has already won 21 Academy Awards since 1986.Pixar Canada’s three-year plan is to produce legacy shorts only, but “anything is possible” beyond that, Nasrabadi told The Province.

Darwyn Peachey , Pixar Canda’s Chief Technical Officer the studio already has a staff of 20, including 16 Canadians, and wants to hire about 55 more staff within 18 months.
Campbell agreed that B.C. has a “competitive tax regime.” But said he believes Pixar came to Vancouver because “we have thousands of creative people.”
Robertson said a whopping one-third of Vancouver’s jobs are in the “creative economy” and that industry growth faces “no limit with Pixar in the mix.” and thanked Pixar Brass for “putting us on the map as a global hub for digital entertainment,” .

Work is Still Underway In The 12 Acre Disney Cars Land Scheduled For Opening June 2012

Blending the magic of Disney stories and characters, the legendary adventure and excitement of Route 66, and California’s celebrated car culture, Cars Land recreates the memorable town of Radiator Springs just as it appeared in the Disney•Pixar animated classic, Cars.
You’re invited to a town built for, and by, cars. All the locals are home including Lightning McQueen, Sally, Mater, Doc and their friends. The whole city is recreated in loving detail — complete with three new attractions. You’ll float on Luigi’s Flying Tires, dance to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and rocket through the desert on Radiator Springs Racers

Disney California Adventure

Filled with a sense of enchantment and optimism, Disneyland is the standard-bearer for all theme parks. By comparison, the smaller Disney’s California Adventure, which opened in 2001, seems more like a collection of attractions (some of which are quite spectacular) rather than a cohesive theme park experience. And there aren’t all that many attractions. That is changing, however, as Disney announced in October 2007 that it has an ambitious five-year plan to transform the underperforming park. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company is planning to spend a whopping $1.1 billion on the project. That’s more than it cost to build the original park.

Cars Land

By appropriating twelve acres from what’s left of Disneyland’s original parking lot, DCA will add a new land based on the Pixar film, Cars. (Isn’t there something at least a bit ironic there?) The featured attraction will be Radiator Springs Racers. While Disney hasn’t released much official info about the E-ticket attraction, the buzz is that it will use a ride system similar to the one at Test Track in Walt Disney World’s Epcot. Since that attraction is reminiscent of slot cars, adapting it for a racing ride sounds like a great idea. Look for hairpin turns, banked curves, and plenty of peel outs. Cars Land will also offer two other, smaller rides based on the film’s characters, Luigi and Mater, as well as a Flo’s Cafe restaurant

Disney’s Cars Land , 12 acre addition , is scheduled to open on June 2012 .

Problems with Cars 2 Storyline

John Lasseter Jumps To The Co-Director Seat Of Cars 2

With the recent news about changes in Cars 2 release date ,rumors that was rebutted a few days after by Disney officials – comes additional inside information that Pixar has been encountering some storyline issues on Cars 2 Plot.
According the BlueSky Disney , John Lasseter has been roaming the halls of Pixar Studio in Emryville once again in order to help Brad Lewis (Ratatouille’s Producer) meet the 2011 release date.

If you were to wonder the halls of the Hat Building right now you’d find something unusual. Something that hasn’t happened in a good while. I’d say almost a couple of years. Each week you could usually find John Lasseter walking the halls at least once, more likely twice a week as he hurried from meeting to meeting before he headed off to Glendale or some other meeting. But the last month or so he’s not been seen that much. And he won’t be for another month or so. See, he’s been stuck up in Emeryville working on “Cars 2″ so that it’s ready for release next year. There have been story problems that have developed late last year and into the new year that needed to be addressed. So as of now, John is riding the film as co-director. Now, will he be listed in the credits as that when the film comes out? Not yet determined if he’ll get his name up there with that label. We will see as time starts to move closer to the release date.

Nothing to panic , this is not the first time that a Pixar animated movie has encountered story issues and probably won’t be the last . Cars 2 is still a year and a half away which leaves enough time to solve the issues that the studio encounters. I for one would very much want to have Lasseter involved in this movie as much as possible and use his valuable talent to tighten any plot loose ends.

Cars 2 is still on Track – Release Date : June 24, 2011

Bob Iger - Disney President

In the last couple of days there were some rumors that the release Cars 2 was pushed six months to December 2011.During the Disney’s first quarter earnings call, Disney’s President and Chief Executive officer , Bob Iger , revealed that Cars 2 will be delayed from its planned June 24, 2011 release to December of that same year. This was the third change in the sequel’s release date.
Today , The studio tells us that Iger’s statement during the conference call was actually: “The second installment of Cars, another strong franchise for the company, will hit theaters in the summer of 2011.” In other words, the “Cars” sequel is still on track, no delays. In other other words – Disney Cars is still on track for release on time.

Lego To Replace Mega Block’s in Cars 2 Construction Toys

Lego has signed a deal with Disney to license block toys for the next two blockbuster children’s movies – Toys Story 3 & Cars 2

In one of the most exciting License deals Lego has joined forces with Disney to bring the Disney world to life for millions of Lego fans. Beginning in 2010 we will see Lego and Lego Duplo sets for Toy Story, Cars and the new Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer film Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.
Mostly because Disney Cars would come out only in Duplo (Aimed for younger users) it looks like it’s time to say goodbye to Mega Bloks … which actualy did a great job a large number of sets and toys from the Mega Bloks Cars Series.
Danish toy giant Lego is threatening to chip away at the very foundation upon which Canada’s Mega Brands was built a quarter century ago by setting its sights on the preschool construction category.

“We will become a much more significant share of that preschool market in the years to come,” Lego Americas president Soren Torp Laursen boldly predicted. In addition to regular blocks based on Disney licences, Lego will also adapt them to its Duplo line of larger blocks that cater to toddlers. All tie in with its traditional building blocks.
Mega Brands has high hopes for its licences with Nickelodeon and Thomas the Tank, the world’s most popular boys preschool line in the world.
In fact, Mega and Lego switched key licences this year with Mega picking up Thomas and shedding Disney.
