Every Cars Toon Has A Story But Not Every Story Becomes A Mater Tall Tale . Check Out The Unmade Cars Toon Shorts

The intial part of creating a Cars Toon Short is coming up with a story idea and quick visual pitch to show the rest of team . The idea is usually tossed around , developed , modeled , rigged , animated , rendered , edited and then finally hits the screen - that's a long and time consuming process ..... most of the times , these story ideas stay unmade.

Disney Cars Toon Shorts - Mater PI

Mater PI is the 9th Mater Tall tales Short and was released on the Cars Toon DVD on November 2nd, 2010 along with Moon Mater.

Mater PI Plot

Lightning McQueen's tires are flat, so he asks Flo for some air. Then, Mater jumps in and says that he thought he already solved that mystery. Then, he starts his story.
Mater was a private investigator solving mysteries. It was 7:15 on a Friday night, Mater was in his room reading different newspapers about counterfeit tires. Tia comes in the room and Mater asks what she wants. Tia says that her sister, Mia, has been carnapped. Tia says that she last saw Mia working for Big D at his night club, the Carbacabana. Mater goes to the night club and asks a singer named Laverne if she's seen Mia anywhere. Laverne says that she saw her a few days ago with Big D and that she smelled salty, like the ocean. Then, one of Big D's henchmen, Clyde, kicks Mater out and breaks one of his headlights for being nosy. Mater then goes to a garbage truck named Stinky and asks him what the "dirt" on the street is. He says he doesn't know, that he's just throwing out lots of flat tires. He says, "It's odd though." because they all smell salty and that he hasn't smelled anything like that ever since he was working at the docks. Then, Mater takes off to the docks. After trying to sneak in by wearing boxes over himself, Big D's henchmen see him and dangle him over the ocean waters. Tia shows up, begging them not to hurt him. Mater now finds out that Tia double-crossed him. Tia claims that she only did it because it was the only way to save her sister. But just before they're going to throw him in the ocean, Lieutenant Lightning McQueen and other police cars arrive. Tia then sets Mater free and he stops Big D by throwing a box on top of him. The box breaks, revealing counterfeit tires. The police then take Big D away to jail.

Back in Radiator Springs, Lightning then says that that's the most ridiculous thing he's ever heard. But before either of them can say anything, Laverne shows up telling everybody to Conga. And Mater then dances away with them.

Moon Mater is the 8th Mater Tall tales Short and was released on the Cars Toon DVD on November 2nd, 2010 along with Mater PI.

Moon Mater Plot

One night, Mater and Lightning McQueen are driving around, and then they see the moon. They both stare at it in awe, which then Mater claims he has been to the moon. Then, he starts his story.
It all started when Mater was towing a car to Florida..... "Houston" had a problem. Autonaut Impala XIII is stuck on the moon and he needs a tow. Not knowing anywhere to find someone to tow him, Mater then shows up at the launch pad still towing the car. And with a little bit of training at "NASCA", he became an official Auto-naut. Now inside a space shuttle named Roger, Mater blasts off into outer space headed for the moon. Now landing on the moon, Mater spots Impala XIII. Mater connects his hook to the front of Impala XIII and blasts off back to Earth at 17,000 mph, with Impala XIII hanging on to him. Mater then says that 17,000 mph is nothing compared to Lightning, who shows up going at an even faster speed. Lightning, now even slightly lighting on fire, lands by shooting into the ocean, which then Mater does a safer way by using a very big raft and parachute. Now having returned to Earth, Mater and Lightning are celebrated with parades, interviews, and even Moon Mater Day!Back in Radiator Springs, Lightning tells Mater, "That did not happen." "Well, suit yourself", replies Mater. Then all of a sudden, Roger shows up and tells Mater that "Houston" has another problem. So, Mater drives inside Roger and they blast off into outer space for another mission.

Join Mater , Lightning McQueen & Cars Gang Daring Adventures In The Frenzied Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales Video Game

Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales is inspired by Disney/Pixar’s wildly popular animated shorts of the same name. A follow up last year’s successful Wii release, Toy Story Mania!, Cars Toon: Mater’s Tall Tales is part of the Mania! video game franchise, featuring fast-paced, multiplayer, family fun. The game is a frenzied pick-up-and-play experience to be enjoyed by everyone in the room. With up to four players at once, Mania! games reward competitiveness and cooperation among players. The game will bring Mater together with Lightning McQueen and the “Cars” gang for a new set of adventures, capturing the endearing sense of humor of everyone’s favorite tow truck. Players will join Mater and his pals as they relive the wild stories he conjures up about hilariously unpredictable events that may or may not have taken place. The voice of everyone’s favorite tow truck, Mater, will be supplied by Daniel Whitney, “Larry the Cable Guy,” who also voices the character in the film and cartoon shorts.

Mater Tall Tale Video Game

In Story Mode, fans play solo as they follow Mater through one of his epic tales. Each tale involves a series of levels that revolve around a particular story. For example, the first level “Rescue Squad Mater” tells the story of the night Mater became a fire truck. Players need to make their way through a race, help put out fires, catch falling objects from windows and carry items out of burning buildings.
Based on the performance each level, players will be awarded with coins. These coins can then be used to upgrade the player’s vehicle. The more challenges the player completes, the better their car becomes. With more than 30 mini games, there are ample opportunities to upgrade.
Mater’s Tall Tales stays true to the characters’ personalities. The games are simple but the controls make them challenging enough. Each mini game involves different game controls, so it is difficult for the player to get bored. It is a great game to get the whole family zooming all night, as it allows for up to four players.

The French Version Of Mater Private Eye - Martin Detective Prive Is Available Online.

Mater Private Eye is the ninth episode in the Cars Toon series. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray a few days ago on November 2, 2010 and will air sometime in 2011 on TV.
While the English Version of this Mater Tall Tale short is still available only on DVD , the French Version , Martin Detective Prive , is currently available online.

As all Mater Tall Tales , the installment unravels a story that may be true or fiction. This time Mater plays the role of a private investigator trying to solve the case of Mia's disappearance.....A true story or another Tall Tale?????

Mater PI Preview Images & Trailer Boost The Quality Of Tall Tale Shorts

Great work by Disney-Pixar .
After viewing the trailers over and over again and closely looking at the screen grabs i can only (..impatiently) wait until the release of Cars Toon DVD Collection this Monday.
Mater PI and Moon Mater are really well done & there's alot of possibilities for new toys - who knows , we may even see Black & White Mater PI Toys.
