Cars 2 Production Team Races Around The World To Bring An Authentic Look To On-Screen Locations

Hundreds of pictures were released by Disney-Pixar from the production team's Cars 2 Research Trip to Tokyo / Porto - Corsa & London . The team consisting of Director John Lasseter , Co-Director Brad Lewis , character art director Jay Shuster & franchise guardian Jay Ward took these pictures to better incorporate these locations into the animated film and serve as base to future Cars 2 concept art .

Disney Pixar Cars Partners With V8 SuperCars

Disney-Pixar Partners With Australian V8 Supercars To Promote Cars Brand & Upcoming Cars 2

V8 Supercars announced a unique partnership with Disney Pixar International to commence the 2011 season, bringing yet another global company to the portfolio of partners backing the sport.

On the eve of the season opening test day at Eastern Creek Raceway , reigning V8 Supercars Champion James Courtney, TeamVodafone’s Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes and Ford Performance Racing pair Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison unveiled the first stage of the Disney partnership - the famous ‘MACK’ character from the famous movie CARS.

It was the first appearance of the life-size MACK transporter, which forms the center piece of Radiator Springs, a mobile themed attraction providing a mix of fun and interactive activities for the entire family.

“Anyone with young children knows that Disney Pixar’s CARS is one of the most popular family movies of our time,” Winterbottom said.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to present this world-first, full-scale replica of MACK the Transporter from CARS, built by Mack Trucks Australia.

“For the first time ever, Australian CARS fans will have the opportunity to get up close and immerse themselves completely in the CARS universe.”

“This unique Disney- Pixar Cars Truck Tour brings together the excitement and adrenaline from the big screen to the rack track and will allow families and fans to experience all the fun and excitement of the Cars characters they love and the exhilarating racing atmosphere of the V8 Supercar competition,” said Kylie Watson-Wheeler, General Manager, Licensing - The Walt Disney Company.

“It is the perfect lead up to the release of ‘Cars 2’ later this year in June.”

The Disney Pixar’s CARS Truck Tour 2011 themed installation features a number of entertainment zones and themed activity stations, providing a whole new level of synergy between the CARS universe and the real world.

This live themed installation has been created with a keen focus on engaging families by giving them a unique and immersive experience inside the CARS universe.

“To be able to announce this unique partnership is another fantastic news story for V8 Supercars and a tremendous synergy with our mantra of growing our already significant youth audience at our world class events,” V8 Supercars CEO Martin Whitaker said.

“Having world famous partners such as Disney and Pixar is a coup for V8 Supercars that will further drive the brand as an engaging sport for all of the family. It will compliment our existing ‘rock n race’ format so that we can capture multiple audiences at our events, providing entertainment for kids, youth and adults.”

The A113 Mystery Code

Most Of You Probably Haven't Noticed That Mater's License Plate Number A113 Is Mysteriously Appearing In Other Pixar Movies....

Did you ever notice that the number A113 ( Mater’s License Plate number) appears also on Trev Diesel’s number ? To those of you that need a Disney Cars Characters reminder - Trev Diesel is the freight train that Lightning McQueen outruns while he is first on his way to Radiator Spring.

Is it just a flick ? Cant the talented guys at Pixar come up with new numbers?? You might reach the wrong conclusion , unless the following piece of information is revealed: the number A113 makes additional appearances in most of Pixar movies . In fact , A113 appears in all Pixar features except Monster Inc. and even Disney Movies ilike princess & The Frog & Meet The Robinsons .

Additional invesigation reveals that the number A113 made its first appearance for a license plate number in the Amazing Stories episode "Family Dog” by Brad Bird (wrote and directed Ratatouille) and since then was included in the following Pixar Movies:

Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 - License plate number on Andy's mom's minivan, later replaced by a Crossover in Toy Story 3.
A Bug's Life - Code on cereal box as Flik enters the bug city.
Toy Story 2 - Airport announcement for "LassetAir Flight A113" (also a reference to director John Lasseter).
Finding Nemo - Model number of the camera used by the scuba diver.
The Incredibles - Room number in Syndrome's lair (not seen, only mentioned by Mirage). Also, the prison level where Mr. Incredible is held is "Level A1" in Cell #13: A1 & 13.
Cars - The number on Trev Diesel & Mater's license plate number. It's also his number in the related short film, Mater and the Ghost Light, A Cars Toon, and other Cars merchandise.
Ratatouille - Git, the lab rat, has a tag on his left ear that reads "A113"
WALL-E - A113 is the code for the directive given to the Axiom's autopilot to never return to Earth.
Up - A113 is the number of the court room that Carl Fredricksen goes to after he hits a worker to protect his mailbox.

So what does this mysterious A113 mean?
A113 refers to the number of the classroom at CalArts that graphic design and character animation students & several Pixarians (John Lasseter, Brad Bird) utilized and since then are using this reference number as an inside joke (Easter egg) in their movies.

Disney Cars Motorama - an exciting event for every CARS lover

Every Year Pixar Hosts the Pixar Motorama show exhibiting some unique and extraoridenary cars. The event is organized by Jay Ward which joined Pixar December 1998 as an art department production assistant on the studio's fourth feature film, "Monsters, Inc.". He was soon promoted to coordinator and in 2001 began early development work on the film "Cars". During production on that movie, Jay's keen knowledge of automobiles served him in a variety of other roles, including character team manager – which involved modeling, articulating and shading of each of the film's characters – and as a valued consultant to the film's director and co-director, John Lasseter and Joe Ranft.

Jay: "After Monsters, my next assignment was CARS, a 4 year project that opened numerous doors for me, and eventually moved me up to a manager at the studio. Because of my knowledge and love of cars, I was a good fit for the show, and my automotive styling opinions and mechanical interests were utilized for everything from bias ply tires, to flathead firing orders. The director John Lasseter is a stickler for details, and he’s not afraid to ask knowledgeable people for advice. I’ve also started a car show at Pixar called the Motorama, which, thanks in part to CARS contacts, has grown into a serious event- We get amazing vehicles brought in by the manufacturers every year just for us. Very cool."

Disney Has Been Conducting A Secret Investigation On The Moon

The Disney-Pixar People Have Been Leveling The Ground For The Release Of More Disney Cars Toon Shorts

Well , i might have gone overboard with the Headline , but non the less , it looks like there are some new things brewing at the Disney's Corridors . According to Stitch Kingdom , there are signs of high action in the Disney's Domains Department Lately . It seems like the Disney People were registering every possible combination involving the words ‘the movie.’ Many appear to be titles that Disney will distribute for DreamWorks, but others are literally screaming out future (or current) Disney projects.

Alphabetically speaking, ANT-MAN-THEMOVIE.COM comes first. Immediately rumored to have been the first Pixar project since the acquisition, Stan Lee mentioned last month on his twitter that Marvel was moving forward with the project which had been in the works for some time.

And now to our business our dear friend Tow Mater is having some thoughts about exploring the final frontier. Lunar Mater (LUNARMATER.COM), Moon Mater (MOONMATER.COM) and Right Stuff Mater (RIGHTSTUFFMATER.COM) have all been registered. We also have Mater PI (MATERPI.COM) and Investigator Mater (INVESTIGATORMATER.COM) so it appears some new Cars Toons may be on the way.

With the near release (in its English Version) Heavy Metal Mater and the other Mater Tall Tale Shorts (Unidentified Flying Mater, Rescue Squad Mater , Mater The Greater , El Materdor & Tokyo Mater) it's most certainly going to be an interesting year .

Disney Has recently signed a deal with Lego and with the approaching launch of the commerical version of WORLD OF CARS , Disney has been making all the necessary moves to expand the DISNEY CARS brand.

First Release Of Disney Cars 2 Concept Art Image

Disney has just released the first Conecpt Art Image from the Cars 2 Movie

Next year , June 24th 2011 to be exact, Pixar would be releasing the Cars Movie Sequel – Cars 2 , World Grand Prix. With more than 15 months ahead , Pixar has released the first concept art image from their storyboard giving us a glimpse of what’s in stored for us and what they’re already been doing for quite some time .

The new colored concept art image, found on Disney’s Annual Shareholder report , shows McQueen racing in front of Mt Fuji in Japan

As revealed last year that Cars 2 will see Lightning McQueen, his pit team and pit boss Mater, heading around the world for the Race of Champions taking place in five different countries with champions from different disciplines like Formula One and rally driving. Apparently "Mater gets involved in a 'Hitchcockian' case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent called Finn McMissile (who looks a lot like an Aston Martin) and becomes embroiled in a huge spy thriller. Only no-one believes him. That too comes to a head at Buckingham Palace." Former Pixar producer Brad Lewis is making his directorial debut on Cars 2.

In the next video , John Lasseter , Cars director and today’s chief creative officer at Pixar and Disney, is breaking out the story of how he came up with the idea for the new Cars movie . "the idea for this came to me as I was traveling around Europe doing publicity for the for movie 'Cars.' I kept finding myself thinking what would Mater do, driving on the opposite side of the road ... and getting stuck in giant roundabouts in Paris ... and in Italy with all the scooters ... if I get the opportunity to do a sequel for 'Cars' I'd love to take them here to Europe"

Last Farewells From Doc Hudson

Doc Hudson Character Would Not Appear In Cars 2

Based on an interview with Larry The Cable Guy , who’s been reprising the voice of the Southern-fried tow truck Tow Mater in Cars 2 since last summer, Doc Hudson's Character would not be featured in the sequel.Voiced by non other than the late Paul Newman , the character of Doc Hudson was set to feature prominently in the sequel . However , Paul's death from lung cancer in Sep 2008 has placed Pixar in an uneasy situation to find a voice replacement .

“It’s a shame he’s still not around,” says Larry The Cable Guy in the recent interview, “They were thinking about getting a voice to sound like him. But then they decided it would be disrespectful, and I agree. You can’t impersonate one of the greats.

“They’ll have some storyline to where he’s moved on or something, and maybe they’re going to do some kind of tribute or something at the end. I’d like to tell you more, but I’m sworn to secrecy.”Doc Hudson , known as the Faboulous Hudson Hornet & Doc is the Judge and Doctor of Radiator Springs . He is a legend on the racing tracks ,Holding the record for most wins in a single season and three in a row Piston Cup Championships in 1951 , 1952 & 1953.

Deleted Scenes From Disney Cars – “Top Down Truck Stop”

Disney Cars Deleted Scenes - Top Down Truck Stop

While traveling down Interstate 40 to California, McQueen is able to convince Mack,his transport truck, to drive non-stop and reach the race track before his competitors. Driving all night , with no stops takes the toll on Mack leading to seperation of the two. While trying to catch up McQueen becomes lost on U.S. Route 66, catching the attention of the local Radiator Springs Sheriff in the process. A chase ensues, during which McQueen crashes and gets tangled in wires, damaging part of the town's main street in the process.

In the early version of the the Disney Cars story , Lightning McQueen gets seperated from Mack after taking a break on at the Top Down Truck Stop , the last Truck stop within 500 miles.

The following Top Down Truck Stop scene was one of the considered stories to that provided a different angle to the events that lead to the seperation of Lightning McQueen and his road companion , Mack on the Way to The Piston Cup race.

The Top Down Truck Stop is also the place where Mater and His Forklift Band , "The Gas Caps" perform in the new Disney Cars Toon - Heavy Metal Mater.

Thousands of people worked on the Disney Cars Toys Movie for several years , harnesing the power of super computers a 1000 times fasters than the ones used to produce Toys Story .
Here are some of the brilliant and creative minds behind the making of the amazing Disney Cars Movie.

Disney Cars Production Designer - Bob Pauley

Bob Pauley , Disney Cars Production Designer , has been at Pixar since .Born I Royal Oak , Michigan , Pauley Grew up in San Jose , California and has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from San Jose State. Pauley states that he was always in design and illustration but he always loved the design of automobiles – The late 50’s Ferraris and Italian Cars & The ‘60s American Cars .
Paul’s dad used to work for Ford and his uncle was on the turbine engine project for Chrysler , so he had car guys engineers close in hand. His dad always wanted him to be an industrial designer but Paul always wanted to go into graphics and animation. Paul never wanted to design real cars (“It’s too hard”) so that’s why he stated he had the best job in the world – designing cars without any rules and they didn’t have to be either safe or economical. The guys could shove any engine in there – they didn’t cars – it’s all Virtual.

Disney Cars Art Dpeartment Manager - Jay Ward

Jay Wards , Disney Cars Art Department Manager . Originally from Kansas City , Missouri , Ward was raised in Modesto , California. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at California College of the Arts , But his path to Pixar was not direct. He was a Navy signalman , an aircraft refueler , a Harley Davidson parts manager and freelance illustrator . He came to Pixar at 1998 , and three years later Lasseter bane him one of the first people on the new automobile project.

Disney Cars Concept Designer - Jay Schuster

Jay Schuster , Disney Cars Concept Designer , has been raised in Birmingham , Michigan and graduated from the industrial design program at the college for creative studies in Detroit. He worked at Lucas Film designing Star Wars Vehicles and environments before Joining Pixar in 2002.
Schuster’s father was a GM designer and growing up in a house where everything is design related – car design , anything mechanical , airplanes , trains , automobiles has had an impact on his purpose in life.

Disney Cars Directing Animator - James Ford

James Ford Murphy, 42, Disney Cars directing animator. Born in Detroit, he attended Marquette University to get a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, but wisely left that chancy field to become a self-taught artist. After working as an animator and art director for Sierra Online, Calabash Animation and Jockey International, Murphy moved to Pixar in 1996.He was born and raised in Detroit and his dad and uncle worked for Chevrolet so he was always been around the automobile world, but was kind of oblivious to it.
Through this film He learned a lot about cars, gained a whole new respect and admiration for design and had a wonderful opportunity to see it with an insider’s view in all aspects. James to his Animators’ responsibility for bringing the life to the characters seriously . John Lasseter insisted all the animators go up to Infineon and do hot laps so all animators got into Mustang GTs with a couple of Jim Russell school instructors and everybody came out of it just wide-eyed, they were loving it - This gave everybody who was doing anything on this film a whole new respect for what it meant to be racing, for the power of a car turning, getting loose and all these things we’d been talking about. Actually feeling this sensation and trying to implement that into the work was really fun.

Disney Cars Modeler and Sketch Artist - Gary Shultz

Gary Schultz , Disney Cars Modeler and Sketch Artist is from Guilford , Connecticut and was an industrial designer with Ideo Product Development before joining Pixar in 1996.
